Owner and Teacher of The Art Satchel Studio has 19 years of teaching experience and 30 years as an artist. She started her journey at Abilene Christian University where she studied, drawing, 3-D art, and metalsmith making wonderful jewelry pieces in which her professors noticed and was offered a scholarship for the following year. Next, she and her husband Kelley moved to Morgantown, WV where her journey took on another amazing turn in both personal growth and Fine Arts. At West Virginia University she studied a variety of discipline in art including sculpture which continues to fascinate her. Continuing her journey as she and her new family moved to Escondido, CA . Maria enrolled at Palomar College in San Marcos there a whole new world opened up to her with glass blowing and stained glass. Inspired for a lifetime she has been pursuing art and all it's facets since. Blessed with 4 wonderful children, life at home and as an artist took on a different form. Teaching was one way to keep her skills sharpened and it also was a way to be close to her school age children. She was offered a teaching job/ministry at Master’s Academy of Fine Arts in Marietta, GA and for 14 wonderful years experienced first hand what great talents children have, a natural gift. Blessed beyond measure after all those years the journey again took on a different look. The Art Escape in Senoia, GA was her next step, a new business venture with a wonderful friend and partner Katherine Kicklighter. A successful business still being run by her partner the twist and turns of life took it's turn again to PA, MD and even FL. Maria's next chapter, The Art Satchel Studio, begins and we shall see what form and what blessings will come from this turn on life's journey.
